eManager’s solution has born to become a reference industrial IoT controller for software professionals. The best partner for developers searching a versatile multiprotocol hardware where they can implement their projects in a comfortable and agile way.
Today we present the Top 8 software for data collection, visualization and DB storage available in the eManager’s repository.
Data collection and visualization
Chirpstack
ChirpStack is an open-source LoRaWAN Network Server stack. It is responsible for handling (and de-duplication) of uplink data received by the gateway(s) and the scheduling of downlink data transmissions. The full stack includes conversion from LoRa® Packet Forwarder protocols into a ChirpStack Network Server common data-format (JSON), device inventory part of a LoRaWAN infrastructure, handling of join-request and the handling and encryption of application payloads.
It offers a web-interface where users, organizations, applications and devices can be managed. For integration with external services, it offers a gRPC and RESTful API.
Device data can be sent and / or received over MQTT / HTTP and be written directly into InfluxDB.
Node-RED
Node-RED is an open-source development tool based on visual programming that was created to connect hardware devices, APIs and online services.
Node-RED is a solid tool, easy to learn, and it does not require any programming knowledge. It has been consolidated as one of the main applications for real-time data management and transformation for IoT and Industry 4.0 solutions.
If you want to know more about this software, we have a complete article about this tool in the following link.
Telegraf, Chronograf and Kapacitor (TICK Stack)
The TICK stack includes Telegraf, InfluxDB, Chronograf and Kapacitor as elements of a complete data storage, collection, visualization and monitoring solution. Telegraf is the agent for collecting and reporting metrics and events, Kapacitor is a real-time streaming data processing engine, and Chronograf is the interface for the InfluxDB Platform.
Grafana
Grafana is an open-source web application for data visualization and analysis. It provides charts, graphs and alerts for all supported sources, including direct connection to InfluxDB.
Database
InfluxDB (TICK Stack)
In addition to the components Telegraf, Chronograf and Kapacitor detailed in the previous paragraph, InfluxDB is a time series database built to handle high write and query loads. InfluxDB is a custom high-performance datastore written specifically for time-stamped data, and especially helpful for use cases such as DevOps monitoring, IoT monitoring, and real-time analytics.
MariaDB
MariaDB is database management system which is an enhanced version of MySQL. These features include the possibility to execute complex queries and store it in the cache, new DB connections management, data cluster access (for cloud softwares), support for graphs hierarchies use and more complex structures.
PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL is an advanced, enterprise-class, and open-source relational database system. PostgreSQL supports both SQL (relational) and JSON (non-relational) querying.
Among its virtues, the high concurrency, the support for multiple data types, objects orientation and multiplatform capabilities are the ones highlighted.
SQLite
SQLite is an open-source tool that allows to store information in embedded devices that implements a small, fast, self-contained, high-reliability, full-featured, SQL database engine.
